Introduction! Wetlands constitute the type of environment the significance of which cannot be overstated. They absorb 2-4 times (varying with the specific subtype of wetlands) as much carbon from the atmosphere as a mature rainforest does. They host an enormous number of unique species including plants and animals not found anywhere else. Despite such great significance of wetland areas they face constant threats due to human activities. People keep drying them out, using the land for agriculture and poisoning wild ones with industry pollutants and even private garbage. Taking the global ecological crisis of today into consideration, the underappreciation of wetlands has to come to an end. This website provides basic information about the richness and diversity of various wetlands in Poland in order to raise awareness and awaken some of the lost appreciation towards those priceless environments!
